Project summary:<\/b>
\nThe innovation of the FairCare project is the involvement of all groups participating in the development of independent living. People in need of care, family members and carers, as well as institutional staff are thinking together.
\nFairCare<\/span> will develop a holistic and comprehensive training program<\/span> in close collaboration with the target groups,<\/span> implemented in local <\/span>FairCare<\/span> Training <\/span>Centres<\/span> to <\/span>empower<\/span> people <\/span>with<\/span> disabilities<\/span> and\/<\/span>or<\/span> in <\/span>need<\/span> of <\/span>care<\/span> to<\/span> exercise<\/span> self-determination<\/span> in <\/span>long<\/span> term<\/span> care<\/span>. <\/span>This<\/span> will<\/span> support <\/span><\/span>them<\/span> in <\/span>effectively<\/span> communicating<\/span> their<\/span> own<\/span> needs<\/span> and <\/span>desires<\/span> to<\/span> their<\/span> informal<\/span> (<\/span>e.g<\/span>., <\/span>relatives<\/span> and <\/span>partners<\/span>) and <\/span>formal<\/span> carers<\/span> (<\/span>e.g<\/span>., <\/span>professional<\/span> nurses<\/span>) and, <\/span>thereby<\/span>, <\/span>exercising<\/span> greater<\/span> self-determination<\/span> in <\/span>their<\/span> daily<\/span> lives<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>
\nAn Advisory Team of the three target groups will be set up in each country to advise and shape the project’s work before decisions are taken.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Three<\/span> types<\/span> of <\/span>trainings<\/span> will<\/span> be <\/span>developed<\/span>: <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span>1<\/span>. <\/span>peer<\/span> training<\/span> for<\/span> disabled<\/span> \/ <\/span>elderly<\/span> people <\/span>to<\/span> become<\/span> peer<\/span> counsellors<\/span>, <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span>2<\/span>.<\/span> cooperation<\/span> training<\/span> for<\/span> the <\/span>collaborative work of the three target groups, <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span>3<\/span>.<\/span> community training on the provision of <\/span>long term<\/span> care.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Project outputs:
\n<\/strong>A <\/span>FairCare<\/span> Methodology will give an overview <\/span>over<\/span> the theoretical background. <\/span><\/span>
<\/span>The <\/span>FairCare<\/span> Curriculum and Course will be <\/span>supported by the <\/span>FairCare<\/span> Toolbox <\/span>containing,<\/span> video tutorials and the online <\/span>FairCare<\/span> collaboration tool. <\/span><\/span>
<\/span>The <\/span>trainings<\/span> will be <\/span>facilitated<\/span> in partner countries locally established <\/span>FairCare<\/span> Training <\/span>Centres<\/span>. <\/span><\/span>
<\/span>The <\/span>FairCare<\/span> Handbook will <\/span>provide<\/span> hands-on guidance for <\/span>practitioners in social and care services on how to adapt <\/span>FairCare<\/span>. <\/span>The <\/span>FairCare<\/span> Memorandum supports this with a mission <\/span>statement.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Target groups:
\n<\/strong>1. <\/span>The primary target group are <\/span><\/span>elderly<\/span> and people with disabilities in need of care<\/span><\/span><\/strong> who want to live a self-determined life in <\/span>their<\/span> chosen<\/span> living<\/span> environment<\/span> with<\/span> adequate<\/span> support<\/span> services<\/span> provided<\/span>. <\/span><\/span>
<\/span>The <\/span>group<\/span> of <\/span>elderly<\/span> people and people <\/span>with <\/span><\/span>disabilities<\/span> is <\/span>very<\/span> heterogeneous<\/span>. <\/span>Yet<\/span>, <\/span>many<\/span> people <\/span>acquire<\/span> their<\/span> impairments<\/span> due<\/span> to<\/span> age<\/span>. Hence, <\/span>elderly<\/span> people <\/span>might<\/span> not<\/span> view<\/span> themselves<\/span> as<\/span> disabled<\/span> but<\/span> in <\/span>fact<\/span> share<\/span> similar<\/span> experience<\/span> such<\/span> as<\/span> not<\/span> being<\/span> viewed<\/span> as<\/span> being<\/span> able<\/span> to<\/span> live<\/span> autonomous<\/span><\/span>and self-determined whilst receiving <\/span>high-levels<\/span> of support.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. <\/span>The secondary target group are <\/span><\/span>relatives, friends and other informal carers<\/span><\/span><\/strong> who provide them with the necessary care and <\/span>support services, which the professional care system does not provide or cannot provide sufficiently in the desired form and <\/span>quality. As those affected, they too have individual needs and challenges that inform the desired and necessary approach to <\/span>support. However, informal carers are most often neither sufficiently equipped with the training and skills to carry out <\/span>their<\/span> tasks <\/span>nor<\/span> viewed as knowledgeable and experienced resources in the <\/span>organisation<\/span> and provision of care.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3. <\/span>The tertiary target group are formal carers<\/strong> who want to work in a support and care system in which they contribute their <\/span>professional skills in such a way that people in need of care live as self-determinedly, <\/span>safely<\/span> and independently as possible <\/span>and can <\/span>participate<\/span> in social life.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The aim is for all three target groups to interact in a closely cooperative way.
\n<\/span>In addition to the <\/span>organisations<\/span> of the project partners, other target groups include self-advocacy and self-representation <\/span>associations of relatives and people in need of care and support, professional associations, municipal decision-<\/span>makers<\/span> and <\/span>social service providers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The main task of People First Association as a Hungarian partner in the project is:
\n<\/span><\/i><\/b>As in all international projects, our main task is to advocate the principle of “Nothing about us without us!”, i.e. to involve people with disabilities in every level, as they are the best experts in their field.
\nPeople First is responsible for the full accessibility of the FairCare project. In the training material, we will develop a chapter on “Self-determination and self-empowerment of people in need of care”. We will develop a FairCare digital collaboration tool. Our association will be responsible for developing a Exploitation<\/span><\/span> Plan and a Communication Strategy, as well as for coordinating activities on social media and the website.
