It is a very popular city hiking and fishing spot, we also regularly visit here with the association.
There are two lakes and a beautiful park forest, but you cannot swim in the lakes. Around the lakes there is a 6 km long footpath, which can be walked with a little help, with benches, fire pits, rain shelters, football pitches, drinking fountains and playgrounds, and occasionally a refreshment bar. You can walk out for some fresh air, or go all the way around one of the lakes, or both if you're on a longer hike.
As a wheelchair user or visually impared it is worth going with a helper, there are some climbs, but basically everything can be walked without hindrance.
The city of Pécs is planning to renovate the parkland, so we will have more information soon.

Updated April 2024:
In 2021, a major park renovation programme started to develop the Malomvölgyi park forest. The Malomvölgy has undergone many improvements in recent years, and more are planned for the popular urban hiking and fishing spot. Unfortunately, further accessibility has not been a focus so far.
On our next visit, we headed from the car park towards the buffet to explore the lake. Between the buffet and the road there is a higher elevation rise, which can cause problems for wheelchair users and the elderly.
There are mobile toilets (also on the other side of the lake) immediately after leaving the car park to access the lake, but they are too narrow for wheelchair use.

On the eastern side of the lake, a sunbathing area with sunbeds has been built and several new benches have been installed around the ponds. The sunbathing area is not wheelchair accessible. There are also two selfie points, one on the north side and one on the west side, both with beautiful views of the lake and easy access for all.

The playground on the peninsula has been renewed and more improvements are planned. Accessible by electric wheelchair, but manual assistance is needed as the ground is uneven. The playground on the small lake by the village of Kökény is also being renewed, with plans for a large castle and a play boat, but these will not start construction until the spring.

A playful carved wooden nature trail is under construction, currently with carved benches and a bird feeder, showing the fish species living in the ponds. Most have been placed so that they are easily accessible to all.

Around the ponds, several fishing areas have been created for anglers and more fireplaces have been built and old ones renovated. The fire pits are accessible, located in roadside clearings, but the fishing spots are not accessible. Rain shelters have been built around the pond, but they are not wheelchair accessible due to the difference in level between the rain shelter and the road.

A stone path has been built to the dam between the two lakes to make it easier to get up, but be aware that there is a slight difference in level at the bottom of the hill, which makes it difficult to get up. At the top of the hill, wheelchair access to the dam is not possible directly, but only by a detour, as a small hump has been left between the rise and the dam. To get around the other lake, you just have to follow the road. Cyclists have no problem getting up the hill, but they too have to take a detour if they only want to go around one of the lakes. The hiking trail around the lakes is pitted, which makes it slippery on the slopes, something to watch out for for anyone passing by.

Getting there:
by car Pécs-Kertváros city district direction Málom. Parking places at both lakes but there is no specially accessible parking.

by public transport, take the accessible bus number 7, get off at the Malomvölgyi út terminus, from where a concrete path of about 1.5 km leads to the lakes. The smooth concrete road has a very nice panoramic view of the city, but you have to be careful at the crossing at the end, as it crosses a relatively busy road and there is no tactile signs for blind people.
